We are finally back with a new reissue release and this is a full circle type deal. Awesome Tapes From Africa the label started in late 2011 with a reissue of Nahawa Doumbia’s La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol 3 which I felt was a strong way to attempt the label idea, since she is well known and often celebrated among Africa music nerds worldwide. But also a legend in Mali. But also kinda under-explored in terms of her early, more stripped down works. My friend Simon had introduced me to the Vol 3 record and our release went really well and Nahawa still gets royalties every 6 months from the reissue as it continues to find new fans. She has also done two European tours during the course of our collaboration and we are planning more for 2020.

So, now, as we finalize the details for ATFA035 it is with extreme honor and looking-backward-feeing-fondness that we make available this first song from the remastered debut recording by this superior vocalist of the southern Mali universe of great vocalists.
