Ouza et ses Ouzettes – Tawatal

Oh fun. Early 90s Senegalese mbalax-pop (with a splash of reggae) from a long-serving innovator in the field. The requisite sabar and tama drum acrobatics never cease to discombobulate my rhythmic compass. Seinfeld-era slapbass and unison female vocal counter-arguments like what.

Check out the new Bola Remixes digital EP, which features reworkings by ITAL, Lamin Fofana, Miles Seaton and Blue Hawaii, and Anzano & Palermo.

I really appreciate your website. But I have a question: is it possible to make some kind of playlist out of the tracks on the page? Im planning to host an “African Party” soon and ofcourse we have to listen to the music that you share with us.

Greetings from Denmark :)

Oh, my husband will be thrilled, Ouza is his all time favourite (for the lyrics and the political engagement). Thanks for your work!
