Woubeshet Feseha 1976
Um, it’s been said over and over already: Addis Ababa must’ve been one damn swinging place in the `70s. To me this feels like end of summer late night deep thoughts make out music. Haunting and soothing, alternately.
Big ups to the nice lady in Copenhagen who gifted this tape to me at a gathering in a rainstorm.
PS: my favorite tape cover so far?

Oh, I didn’t see that coming. I really like your blog. Greetings from Copenhagen.
Haven’t heard it yet, but I agree, what a cover!
I love this tape. 3rd world bladerunner soundtrack.
Is there anyone out there who can speak Amharic and can figure out the track titles?
thank you!!
great tape, wow. such a tight scene over there back then.
Great post! I linked to it over at ghostcapital.
Keep up the amazing work. BTW, I’m really really looking for some good Rai from before 1985; Kouider Bensaid, Chab El Heindei, and Benfisaa (of course) … Justthought I’d throw that out there since you appear to be connected.
This is just beautiful, sublime music and I can’t stop playing it. Many thanks
B L O W I N G M I N D S – best tape ever IMHO
wow, i especially like track seven, to imagine being at some bar grooving to this outside in ethiopia in the 70s. what a picture it paints. thanks for sharing!
Maybe this is a big hit in Africa but I think only few know hos songs around the world.
If this cover were an outfit I would wear it
THankyou for all your Great Music.
Peace from Chicago
Hi Folks,
Addis born Ethiopian here. This is from 1976 Ethiopian Calendar. Which makes it 1984 in Western or standard calendar…..
Cheers
Just had to tell you that were 8 months down the line and this tape still blows me away every time I play it. I’ll be eternally grateful for this one.

Awesome, it took me back home with the childhood memories. These recordings are less accessible these days for they are recorded on cassettes. Thanks for sharing us and keep up with the good job. Bisrat from ATL
Nice album,
This album didn’t get much notice in Ethiopia because the issues at that moment were different
this has to be my favourite upload on the whole blog
