Woubeshet Feseha 1976

Um, it’s been said over and over already: Addis Ababa must’ve been one damn swinging place in the `70s. To me this feels like end of summer late night deep thoughts make out music. Haunting and soothing, alternately.

Big ups to the nice lady in Copenhagen who gifted this tape to me at a gathering in a rainstorm.

PS: my favorite tape cover so far?

Great post! I linked to it over at ghostcapital.
Keep up the amazing work. BTW, I’m really really looking for some good Rai from before 1985; Kouider Bensaid, Chab El Heindei, and Benfisaa (of course) … Justthought I’d throw that out there since you appear to be connected.

    Hi Folks,

Addis born Ethiopian here. This is from 1976 Ethiopian Calendar. Which makes it 1984 in Western or standard calendar…..

    Cheers

Awesome, it took me back home with the childhood memories. These recordings are less accessible these days for they are recorded on cassettes. Thanks for sharing us and keep up with the good job. Bisrat from ATL

    Nice album,
This album didn’t get much notice in Ethiopia because the issues at that moment were different
