Zig Zag Crew – Bongo Msoto

Ill early aughties Tanzanian hip-hop (aka bongo flava). If you like ’93 rap you will appreciate these guys’ aggressive Kiswahili cadence over Dar-meets-BK kicks.

Awesome Tapes From Africa DJ set Saturday (tomorrow) at the New Museum with tons of bands and djs including Atlas Sound, Light Asylum, Weird Magic, Todd Pendu, et al.

Also, Nâ Hawa Doumbia’s La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol 3, the first release on ATFA the label, is out now on LP/CD/MP3 and limited edition cassette (see link at left).

Hi Brian

after ordering the vinyl of La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol 3, I wondered what has been the master of it – I didn’t found any information about that.

Was it one of your tapes?
Thanks

A.

it was mastered from an original vinyl copy. the tape is particularly hard to find and a poor quality reproduction. thanks!

Another excellent find! Just heard your great mixtape for Pap•il•lon.. I noticed the tracklist for this mix lists 8 songs but it appears the mix contains 10… The last two tracks from the mix don’t seem to be tagged.. any chance you can reveal what the last track is called? The one that has the Shangaan Electro/Tsongo Disco feel.. amazing track from an amazing mix! Thanks

E.
